I saw this film recently through Criterion Channel, one of the greatest classic film channels. This film by Robert Bresson struck me in such a way due to its minimalist approach to set pieces, characters, dialogue, and everything in between. Seeing the man who escapes a Nazi prison camp succeed in a small series of actions feels transcendant. This portrayal of hope is something we all need. In short, the man escapes, and it is good.
